AIC Volleyball is available to students in Year 7 to 12. All matches are played on Saturdays during Term 1 . Volleyball trials and preseason training commences during Term 4 of the previous year. New students entering the College will be invited to participate in these trials in Term 4. The Villanova coaching team also run a preseason training clinic in early January at the end of the holiday break to help prepare our teams for the AIC season.

The College’s experienced coaching cohort is made up of a mixture of Villanova staff, Old Boys and external accredited coaches from outside the Villanova community. Our coaching cohort features a number of coaches with a range of experience from current and former players to State and National team coaches.

Each year, Villanova College submits a number of teams into Volleyball Queensland’s annual Queensland Schools Cup competition which competes against the best volleyball schools in the state. We also enter a number of teams into the annual Australian Volleyball Schools Cup held on the Gold Coast during December.

Villanova College has developed a relationship with Easts Volleyball Club allowing for our students to benefit from the knowledge of club coaches and offering a pathway for our students wishing to pursue volleyball at a higher level.

The College’s volleyball uniform consists of the Villanova green PE shorts, Villanova volleyball shirt, which is hired from the College Uniform Shop for the duration of the season.

Our volleyball teams are supported by an active group of parents who primarily assist with operating the canteen at the home games.

During the season, further information such as training times, team lists, coaching staff, schedules and results are updated regularly on the College website.

Queensland Academy of Sport – Emerging Talent Volleyball Program

The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS), in conjunction with Volleyball Australia, runs a training program for junior athletes known as the Emerging Talent Program. This program is offered to athletes Under 18 who wish to pursue volleyball training beyond a school and club level. This program operates throughout many Sport Centres and offers athletes a choice in which they would like to attend.
